The New York Islanders have extended their wildly-successful student outreach program -- the NYI Havoc Energy Zone.
The Havoc Zone will be open for the following four Islanders home games at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum:
* this Saturday, Jan. 27 vs. Buffalo at 7:00 pm
* Tuesday, Jan. 30 vs. Detroit at 7:30 pm
* Wednesday, Feb. 7 vs. Philadelphia at 7:30 pm
* Thursday, Feb. 15 vs. Boston at 7:30 pm
The NYI Havoc Energy Zone was created by the New York Islanders as a way to reach out to Long Island students, the next generation of Islanders fans. Thanks to the generosity of Islanders ownership, along with our creative partnership with Havoc Energy Drink, students of all ages can get lower bowl endzone tickets for Islanders games for just $19.
The Havoc Zone has become such a hit, some fans have started lining up more than four hours before tickets go on sale. A community of young Islanders fans has been created, as the die-hards are getting to know each other while making the most out of their time on line.
As a result of the Havoc Zone, young hockey fans are getting into Islanders games in huge numbers -- an average of more than 1,400 student discount seats have been purchased in the first five games of the Zone. In addition, the Long Island students are bringing extra spirit and support to the Coliseum, which already featured some of the loudest and most passionate fans in the National Hockey League.
"The Havoc Zone is one of the best ideas we've had in hockey in a while," said Islanders star goaltender Rick DiPietro. "To see the long lines of fans outside the Coliseum when I'm driving in for the game, to hear how loud the students are in the end zones, it's just an amazing thing. Even before the student program, we had one of the loudest buildings in the league. Now it's really crazy."
Despite a strong advance sale for the special 1972 Retro Jersey game against the Buffalo Sabres, the Islanders have set aside ticket inventory in the Havoc Zone on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Islanders decided to make the $19 seats available as a way of welcoming the young fans back after the All-Star Break. For Saturday™s game, the Islanders will wear vintage jerseys from their inaugural season, plus there will be a ceremonial faceoff with the Islanders' first captain, Ed Westfall. Havoc Zone tickets will go on sale at the Coliseum box office on Saturday beginning at 5:30 pm, but get there early. And you never know what other surprises we may have in store...
For the next three games -- Jan. 30 vs. Detroit, Feb. 7 vs. Philadelphia and Feb. 15 vs. Boston -- the complete Zone will be available starting at 6:00 pm at the Coliseum box office on the night of the respective games. With Nik Lidstrom and the Red Wings making a rare Coliseum appearance, expect the line the Havoc Zone line to be extra-jammed.
Rules and Regs:
If you're a student and you want to be in the Zone, show up at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the day of the game. Tickets for the NYI Havoc Energy Zone will be sold at the Coliseum box office starting 90 minutes before the opening faceoff. Of course, the earlier you get there, the more incredible the seats you'll be able to get for your 19 bucks.
If the Havoc Energy Zone is completely sold out, do not despair: based on availability, the Coliseum box office will still try to find you tickets for the $19 student price.
Each student can purchase up to two tickets. Once you get to your amazing seats in the arena, show your Islanders pride and cheer your lungs out. In other words, create havoc controlled havoc, of course.
So be a part of it. Help make the NYI Havoc Energy Zone the talk of Long Island and the NHL.
