Have lunch at the Islanders game on Rick DiPietro

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders
Fan Appreciation Day on April 1st is all about giving back to the loyal fans in the blue and orange sweaters who night-in and night-out turn out to support their team. Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro wanted to get involved, and he is taking a unique approach to honoring the fans.

DiPietro wants to show his appreciation and Islanders pride and buy food for the fans on Fan Appreciation Day.
The first 5,000 fans at Sunday’s game will receive a hot dog and a small fountain drink or water courtesy of DP.
“It's not that cheap to get a hot dog and a drink at a game anymore,” DiPietro said. “I thought I’d try to make the game a little more enjoyable. That's what I'm trying to do.”
Fans can collect the vouchers for their food from gates one, five, 16 and the box office. DiPietro will be on hand to distribute vouchers and interact with fans as a part of Fan Appreciation Day. Vouchers are one per person and can only be redeemed at Sunday’s game.
It shouldn’t be hard to spot number 39, as he’ll be meeting fans near Gate 10 at the Islanders box office.
“I just wanted to show the fans how much I appreciate them and how much I appreciate being a New York Islander,” DiPietro said. “It’s just a gesture to show the fans how much I care.”
Come down to the Coliseum this Sunday to meet DiPietro, enjoy a free hot dog and cheer on the Isles as they battle the Sens.
