Greiss Beats Nelson at World Championships

and Team Germany beat Brock Nelson and Team USA 3-2 in preliminary action at the 2016 IIHF World Championships on Sunday morning.

Greiss made 31 saves for the win, his second straight win since joining Germany (3-0-1-2, W-OTW-OTL-L) on Friday. Nelson earned his first point at the 2016 IIHF World Championships, assisting on Auston Matthews’ second-period goal. Team USA dropped to 3-0-0-3 with the loss.

Tied 2-2, the game appeared to be headed to overtime, but Germany’ Korbinian Holzer scored with 33 seconds to play.

Germany’s next game is on Monday vs. Hungary, while Team USA plays Slovakia on Tuesday.
