The National Hockey League announced today that Islanders forwards
Ottawa will be the host city of the 2012 NHL All-Star Celebration. The 2012 NHL All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Scotiabank Place and the celebration will begin Thursday, Jan. 26, with a variety events planned throughout Canada’s capital region.
Grabner, 24, led all Islanders with 34 goals last season and was named a finalist for the league’s Calder Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL’s top rookie. Selected in the first round, 14th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks, Grabner’s four goals through 12 games this season rank second on the Islanders.
Tavares, 21, has led the Islanders in scoring in each of his first two professional seasons. The first overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft currently leads the Islanders in goals (8) and points (13).
Streit, 33, leads all Islanders defensemen in scoring this season with eight points (one goal, seven assists). The Bern, CH, native missed the entire 2010-11 season with an injury, but led Islanders defensemen in scoring during the previous two seasons.
