Goal of the Week

by Cory Wright / New York Islanders

GOAL OF THE WEEK: FRANS NIELSEN

Frans Nielsen finished off this week’s goal of the week, but it really belongs to the entire line. First, big man Anders Lee (6’3, 228 lbs.) turns on the jets in a one-on-one battle with Anaheim’s Josh Manson. The former All-State quarterback has no problem taking a hit to make a play, keeping his head up and finding Josh Bailey in the slot.  Bailey makes a heads up play and gives the puck to a trailing Frans Nielsen who taps it past Anton Khudobin. It was a highly-complex play, but they make it look easy – like playing Duck Hunt up against your TV easy. The goal was as important as it was pretty, stopping the Ducks momentum early in the third and giving the Islanders a two-goal lead.

Honorable Mention: Brock Nelson Goes Upstairs on Enroth
