For the most part, social media is spontaneous conversation and interaction. But, here at the Islanders, we've created some regularly scheduled content that gives fans the chance to interact with the team and win Islanders prizes. You won't want to miss them.
This Day In Islanders History:
If there is an anniversary of an important event in the team’s history, you’ll get that bright and early as our first update of the day.
On the Islanders Facebook wall and Twitter feed we will post snapshots of cool hockey and Coliseum related items and ask you to identify what it is for an Islanders prize.
How well do you know your Islanders? In this fun contest, we post a picture of the eyes of one of the players, and you have to guess who it is. Follow the hashtag #IslesEyes for this contest. Want to learn more about hashtags? Click here.
Weekdays at noon (Eastern) you’ll get a timely video to watch while you sit down and take that much-needed break. Can't get free to watch? Check our Facebook wall and Twitter page later in the day to see the link.
Hockey Fight Friday:
On Fridays during hockey season, you can catch top fights from the week. These get posted at noon (Eastern) and take the place of the Lunch Video. This video gets posted to both Twitter and Facebook.
Tuesday Night Trivia (Isles TNT):
Every Tuesday night after 10:00 p.m., you have a chance to win cool Islanders prizes by showing off your hockey knowledge on Twitter and Facebook. In the event that we have a Tuesday night game, trivia is moved to the next night without a game.
On the Spot and the GM Show:
During the season, IslandersTV streams live shows on newyorkislanders.com. "On the Spot" features Islanders players answering fans questions live. "The GM Show with Garth Snow" gives fans have the opportunity to hear from the GM himself what is going on behind the scenes at the Islanders. Questions for both shows are submitted by fans via Facebook, email, and Twitter and answered live on newyorkislanders.com. Both shows are hosted by the radio voice of the New York Islanders, Chris King.
First Goal Guesses:
On game nights look for a chance to win Twitter bragging rights by guessing which of our players will score the first goal. (Hashtag: #1stGoal).
Foursquare Ticket Giveaway:
For every home game, check in to Nassau Coliseum on Foursquare and be automatically entered to win two tickets to an upcoming game. Click here for more info on how to use Foursquare.
