General Colin Powell is coming to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum today to take part in the ceremonial opening faceoff when the Islanders host the Carolina Hurricanes at 2:05 pm.

At the Islanders game, General Powell is hosting Fellows from the Colin Powell Center for Policy Studies at The City College of New York. Named for the former U.S. Secretary of State – a CCNY graduate – the center is dedicated to helping inner city youngsters get the quality education they need to be America's next generation of leaders. For more on the Colin Powell Center for Policy Studies, visit http://www1.ccny.cuny.edu/ci/cpowellcenter/index.cfm

Islanders fans will not want to miss this extraordinary occasion when the former U.S. Secretary of State joins Islanders owner Charles B. Wang at center ice to drop the puck between Islanders captain Bill Guerin and Hurricanes captain Rod Brind'Amour. General Powell's visit coincides with the culmination of the Lighthouse Tournament, featuring the youth teams from China on Long Island this week as part of Charles B. Wang Ice Hockey Project Hope.

We look forward to seeing you Monday at this special day in Islanders history.
