Islanders (16-12-3) at Rangers (18-12-4)

(7:00 p.m. ET, TV: FSN NY 2| Radio: Bloomberg 1130) It's round two of the 2006-07 Islanders-Rangers matchup as the rivalry heats up again at Madison Square Garden.

The first meeting went to the Islanders in stunning fashion, knocking off the Blueshirts 7-4 at the Garden on December 3. In that game, the Islanders scored four first-period goals and Viktor Kozlov finished with his first four-goal game in his NHL career. Brendan Shanahan recorded a hat trick for the Rangers, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Islanders onslaught.

The seven goals against the Rangers was the highest goal total by the Islanders this season, but Saturday they achieved their largest margin of victory when they beat the Atlanta Thrashers 6-0.

In that game, six different Islanders scored and Rick DiPietro recorded his second shutout of the season, stopping all 37 shots. Alexei Yashin made a triumphant return by scoring the second goal of the game. Chris Campoli also played solidly on defense in his first game of the season with the Islanders, finishing with a +3 rating. Miroslav Satan, Andy Hilbert, Viktor Kozlov, Shawn Bates and Mike Sillinger, while shorthanded, also tallied goals in the game.

After going 21 games without any points, Hilbert has been on fire recently, totaling nine points in his last nine games. He's also compiled a +7 rating in that stretch.

The Rangers have been sputtering the last couple of games at home, dropping contests to Toronto by a score of 9-2 and New Jersey, 6-1.

On Sunday, Zach Parise scored a goal and two assists, while Sergei Brylin and Patrik Elias both scored two goals to help the Devils top the Rangers. Kevin Weekes was in goal on Sunday after Henrik Lundqvist allowed eight goals on 24 shots against the Maple Leafs the night before.

Three of the Rangers' top players missed the game against the Devils due to various ailments: Michael Nylander, Matt Cullen and Marek Malik.

Chris King and Steve Mears have the call on Bloomberg Radio 1130, while Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe can be seen tonight on FSN NY 2.
