Islanders host Nashville and go for third win in a row

(7:30 p.m. ET, TV: FSNY 2 | Radio: Bloomberg 1130) The Islanders look to make it three in a row tonight as they take on Paul Kariya and the Nashville Predators in game two of their seven-game home stand.

Saturday was a successful homecoming for the Islanders who started off the 2006-07 home schedule with a convincing win over the Boston Bruins to raise their record to 2-3-0.

After a slow start in the first period, the Islanders played what Ted Nolan called their "best two periods so far" scoring four unanswered goals to win 4-1. Jason Blake tallied his first two goals of the season and added an assist. Mike Sillinger and Tom Poti scored their first goals as Islanders, Sean Hill picked up his first two points as an Islander with two assists and Miroslav Satan posted his first three-point game of the season, contributing three assists. Satan now leads the team in scoring with five points (1-4).

Tonight the Islanders play their fifth western conference opponent in their first six games. They faced-off against Nashville last season with the Predators coming out on top by the score of 2-1 in Nashville.

The Predators comes to the Coliseum with a record of 1-3-0. Tomas Vokoun earned the team's first win of the season on Saturday, knocking off Phoenix by the score of 3-1.

The Predators' offense is led by Kariya, Steve Sullivan and Jason Arnott, who was acquired in the off-season from Dallas. Arnott and Sullivan both have five points, while Kariya has four. On defense, sophomore defenseman Ryan Suter has chipped in with a goal and three assists to lead the team's blueline in scoring.
