Season series (2-0-0)
The Islanders notched their first win of the season in the first meeting between the Isles and Lightning on Jan 21. John Tavares tallied two assists as the Islanders earned a 4-3 win. In the second matchup against the Lightning, Evgeni Nabokov stole the show, stopping all 18 shots he faced as the Isles won 2-0.

Lightning player to watch
Ben Bishop - Goaltender

Acquired at the trade deadline from Ottawa, Bishop shined in his first appearance in a Tampa Bay uniform. One day after being traded, Bishop made 45 saves in a 5-0 win against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Lightning paid a hefty price in Calder Trophy candidate Cory Conacher, but general manager Steve Yzerman feels the Lightning now have their goaltender of the future.
