The New York Islanders take on the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night at UBS Arena to conclude their season-long, five-game homestand. For both teams, it's the first of a back-to-back set.
In their first meeting of the season, the Islanders earned a point in a 4-3 shootout loss on Dec. 13. After the Islanders gave up two early goals, Josh Bailey and Noah Dobson scored to battle back from a 2-0 deficit, while Casey Cizikas tied the score at three late in the third period to push it to the extra frame. After a scoreless overtime period, the Bruins bested the Islanders in the shootout, but New York earned a valuable point on the road.
The Islanders are coming off a 4-3 OT loss to the Washington Capitals on Monday night, letting a 3-0 lead slip before losing in the overtime frame. Sebastian Aho, Matt Martin and Hudson Fasching scored for the Islanders, while Garnet Hathaway, Tom Wilson and T.J. Oshie powered the Capitals' comeback to push overtime. Dmitry Orlov scored the game-winning goal to take home the two points for Washington.

In their previous contest, the Bruins shut out the Philidelphia Flyers 6-0 on Monday night. Pavel Zacha (2G, 1A), David Krejci (3A) and David Pastrnak (2G, 1A) all had three-point performances in the victory. With 29 saves, Jeremy Swayman earned his sixth career shutout and first of the season.
The Islanders have a record of 8-4-3 against the Bruins in their last 15 contests over the span of four seasons.
