The Islanders are in the land of Sidney Crosby as they faceoff against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Mellon Arena tonight. The Orange and Blue have taken three of four games from the Pens this season and all the victories have come in the shootout. So get ready, because this game could get wild.
Former Islander Eric Cairns will not be the lineup for the Pens as he was suspended by the NHL on Thursday.

MIRO DOES IT ON THE POWER PLAY
Miroslav Satan can score on the power play. On Friday, March 17, Satan netted his 100th NHL power play goal. The tally also tied his career-high of 15, which ranks tied for twelfth in the NHL. The Islanders season-record for power play tallies in 28, held by Hall-of-Fame member Mike Bossy in the 1980-81 season. The Islanders have not had a player score more then 15 power play goals since the 1999-00 season when Mariusz Czerkawski netted 16.

The Islanders have a total of seven rookies currently in their lineup; three defenseman and five forwards. Rick DiPietro continues to set a new personal season-high in victories this season. On March 21, he recorded his 26th victory over the Montreal Canadiens. His previous season-high was 23, which he recorded in the 2003-04 season. On the season, DiPietro is 26-20-3. He had a six-game winning streak from March 2 March 14, not counting March 6 at Washington which he did not play in.
The Islanders' record for most victories by a goaltender his 32, co-held by Billy Smith (1981-82) and Chris Osgood (2001-02).
The Islanders begin their eighth back-to-back series of the season and fourth of five this month, tonight in Pittsburgh. The team goes home to Long Island to host the Atlanta Thrashers tomorrow.

MIRO AND HUNTER STAR IN SHOOTOUTS
Miroslav Satan and Trent Hunter are clutch in the shootout. Satan is third in the NHL with seven shootout goals and is tied for first with five determining goals. He is also fourthin the NHL with a shooting percentage of 77.8% in the shootout (of shooters with more than three attempts). Satan is also six-for-six when leading off the shootout for the Islanders and is three-for-three versus the New Jersey Devil's Martin Brodeur.
Hunter has been almost as successful with five goals in the shootout and two determining goals. He's converted 62.5% of his attempts.
SCORING THE FIRST GOAL

BRUNO SCORES FIRST NHL GOAL
Islanders' rookie defenseman Bruno Gervais scored his first NHL goal on Sunday, March 19 at Tampa Bay. Gervais has played in 11 games this season with the Islanders and now has two points. He made his NHL debut on Dec. 4th at Detroit and recorded his first NHL point/assist on Jan. 19 at Carolina. In 55 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL), Gervais is fourth on the team in scoring with 17 goals and 25 assists for 42 points. He was first among AHL defenseman in goals scored and ninth in scoring. Gervais, 21 years old, was selected by the Islanders in the sixth round (182nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
BATES PLAYS IN 400TH NHL GAME
Islanders' center Shawn Bates played in his 400th NHL game on Sunday, March 19 at Tampa Bay. As an Islander, Bates has played in 257 games and has scored 52 goals with 101 assists for 153 points. In his NHL career, which started in Boston, Bates has scored 66 goals with 115 assists for 181 points.
On March 6, the Islanders signed Bates to a three-year contract extension. Originally signed by the team prior to the 2001-02 season, Bates is currently in his fourth season with the team.
