The Islanders lost their first two meetings with the Capitals this season, but took a point in a 3-2 overtime loss on Nov. 30. In that outing, the Islanders grabbed a 2-1 lead with 1:51 to play, but allowed the Caps to tie the game on a late shorthanded goal. Alex Ovechkin scored the OT winner to complete the comeback for the Caps.

Nicklas Backstrom - Forward
Nick Backstrom is one of the NHL’s top playmakers and his 42 assists are fourth in the league. The Washington pivot compliments the Capitals captain, Alex Ovechkin, and together they make up one of the league’s most lethal pairs. Backstrom also has 11 goals for a total of 56 points and has one goal and three assists in two games against the Islanders this season.
