The Isles won the special teams battle in Games 1 and 2, but the Panthers had the edge in Game 3.
Florida went 2-for-5 with the man advantage, while the Isles went 0-for-3.
The Panthers' power play opened the scoring in the second period, as Haula slammed in a Evgenii Dadonov rebound at 4:02. The power play struck again in the beginning of the third period, effectively swinging the momentum of the game.
"A lot of the times you earn what you get and probably need to be a little better on the kill," Bailey said. "At the same time it's in the past now, there's nothing we can do about it but get ready for Friday and make sure we bring our best."
Given that Florida had a top-10 power play during the season, an effective game seemed inevitable, but what irked the Isles after Game 3 was the number of penalties they took. After taking four total penalties in Games 1 and 2, the Isles took five on Wednesday, including a pair of self-inflicted wounds, as Haula's goal came off a Too Many Men bench minor, while Hoffman's came via a Varlamov misplay.
"Obviously we didn't execute our game plan and discipline was in our game plan and we didn't do it," Pageau said. "It's unfortunate, but we're in a good position. Now we just have to focus again. Now we'll have to play with urgency in the next game."
