Islanders defenseman Freddy Meyer made sure that he made himself available to come back to Long Island this summer to once again travel along with the Islanders I.C.E. Tour to help spread the game of hockey around to local Long Island children. Starting on July 14th and lasting until July 18th Meyer participated in quite a few events around Long Island.

"This is my second straight summer coming back to Long Island to help out with

community events. It is great the team takes such an active stand in making sure the game of hockey stays on Long Island all throughout the summer. I am glad I was able to come back and help out with this," said Meyer.

Meyer started out his week back on Long Island by visiting the children attending the summer recreation program at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. Upon his arrival hundred of children made sure to meet Meyer and get his autograph. All the groups in attendance also had the opportunity to learn some hockey skills from the Islanders defenseman.

Throughout the rest of the week Meyer and the Islanders I.C.E. Tour made stops at Hofstra Summer Camps in Hempstead, Plainview Old Bethpage Summer Recreation, and Northshore Day Camp where he was joined with another Islanders defenseman, Bruno Gervais. At each location Meyer made sure that

every camper received an autograph and that everyone who wanted to play some street hockey got a chance to do so. “Everyone had a great time at all the camps we visited. The kids were thrilled that they were able to learn a little hockey themselves with the street hockey games we played,”said Meyer.

Meyer also came down to Massapequa later in the week to sign autographs at the Islanders Team Store. More than 100 fans came out to meet the defenseman and get his autograph. Meyer made sure that everyone in attendance did not go home empty handed. Whether the fans wanted an autograph or a picture Meyer accommodated everyone. All Kids Club Members in attendance also went home with a great new T-Shirt.
