Foreurs 4, Oil Kings 3 2OT

The Edmonton Oil Kings dropped to 1-2 at the Mastercard Memorial Cup, losing 4-3 in double overtime to the QMJHL champion Val d’Or Foreurs.

Griffin Reinhart did not record a point in the overtime loss; a game the Oil Kings led 2-0, 3-2 and outshot the Foreurs 50-33.

The Oil Kings next opponent will be determined during Wednesday’s game between Guelph and London. If Guelph wins, the Oil Kings will play Val d’Or in the semi-final round. If London wins, the Oil Kings and Knights will meet in the tie-breaker round.
