The Islanders Family Fan Fest was set up in Mitchell Field today to be a part of the Empire State Games for the physically challenged. The Games offer competition in a variety of adapted sports, plus fitness for young people with physical challenges. The program is free to athletes and spectators through the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and lovingly supported by the unselfish efforts of loyal volunteers. Children ranging in age from 5 years old to 21 years old all take part in the games. On the complex also includes tons of other activities for the athletes and fans to enjoy, which is where the Islanders Family Fan Fest stepped in. Their inflatable moonbounce and slap shot booth were available for all fans to experience. Sparky and the Ice Girls also paid a visit to everyone at the games and were taking pictures and having a great time with anyone who stopped by.
