DiPIETRO TO MISS TONIGHT'S GAME

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro will miss tonight's game against the New Jersey Devils with headaches.

"After the game on Sunday, Rick told our medical staff that he was suffering from headaches," said Islanders general manager Garth Snow. "Until Rick is completely recovered, he will not play. As important as these games are, nothing is more important than Rick's health."

DiPietro will be evaluated on a daily basis. The team will have no further comment on his injury, and DiPietro will not be available for comment until he is cleared to play.

The 26-year old DiPietro has tied the team record for most victories in a season. His 32 wins so far this season tied the mark set by Billy Smith (1981-82) and Chris Osgood (2001-02).

The Islanders have recalled goaltender Wade Dubielewicz from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League. In 39 games this season with the Sound Tigers, the 28-year old Dubielewicz is 22-11-5 with a 2.59 GAA and .925 save percentage.

In other news, the Islanders announced that defenseman Freddy Meyer will be out indefinitely with a broken finger. Defenseman Allan Rourke has been recalled from Bridgeport (AHL.)
