DiPIETRO LEAVES GAME WITH INJURY

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders
Will be re-evaluated tomorrow
Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro left the game with an undisclosed injury during the first period of his team's 5-3 loss tonight in Montreal.

Late in the first period, DiPietro and Montreal forward Steve Begin collided and Begin's skate struck DiPietro in the head. DiPietro was attempting to gain control of the puck near his own blue line before colliding with Begin.

DiPietro stayed on the ice and was attended to by Islanders trainer Garrett Timms before being helped to the locker room.

The goaltender will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. On Thursday the Islanders play in Ottawa.
