It was a busy day for Islanders' goaltender Rick DiPietro
yesterday as he started the day purchasing toys for children and then finished the day at the Team Store located inside of the Broadway Mall in Hicksville.
At the crack of dawn DiPietro joined several teammates and their wives at 6:30 a.m. at Toy R' Us. They purchased gifts and will deliver them to local Long Island Hospitals next week.
Later in the evening DiPietro made his way over to the Islanders Team Store. The Islanders' net-minder was greeted by more than 200 people. Every fan that was in attendance had the opportunity to receive an autograph from DiPietro.
Today was non-stop but I enjoyed every minute. I've gotten bored the past few months not being able to be with the guys and more importantly seeing all of our fans again," DiPietro said. "To go from purchasing gifts for children in hospitals, then skating with guys and then completing the night at the Team Store with fans, it couldn't have been better."
