The New York Islanders are releasing the team’s first DVD in more than a decade just in time for Father’s Day. This weekend, Islanders TV brings the fans Dinner and a Dynasty, which will be available on DVD for purchase at Newyorkislanders.com and at the Islanders Team Store in the Broadway Mall starting on Friday evening for $24.95.
Dinner and a Dynasty
features a 75 minute round table discussion with legendary alumni from the Islanders dynasty, set over dinner at Rothmann’s Steakhouse. The production was filmed during the “Core of the Four” celebration weekend in early March and features Bill Torrey, Al Arbour, Bob Nystrom, Bryan Trottier, Ken Morrow and more. The dinner was hosted by Hall of Fame Islanders broadcaster Jiggs McDonald.
“We know Islanders fans have a thirst for a new DVD,” said Islanders Vice President of Communications Josh Bernstein. “And this production certainly whets their appetites. Fans will hear stories never told before about the dynasty years and we were able to bring them closer than ever to the 1980s championship teams.”
Various topics were discussed at the dinner table, including: thoughts and opinions on all four Cup victories, Al Arbour's nicknames, punishments and rewards for the players, how the famous Butch Goring trade actually went down, and many more.
The significance of the dinner being held at Rothmann’s is that the team stayed at the adjacent Inn on the evening prior to playoff games during the dynasty era.
The DVD also features extended interviews with Bob Nystrom, Duane Sutter, Mike Bossy, Bill Torrey and Bryan Trottier and others.
For more information or to order, fans should stop by the Islanders Team Store in the Broadway Mall in Hicksville, NY.
