The New York Islanders support many different charitable efforts both on Long Island and nationally. Last season, the Islanders welcomed the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to Nassau Coliseum for a game that raised over $100,000.
Denny’s Childrenwear owners Ron, Marilyn, Spencer and Jeff Klein came to the Islanders NCMEC game and they departed with a plan. Following the game, the Klein’s made it their mission to get involved and raise as much money as they could for the important cause.
“Each day we see children come into our stores and they are the future of our country,” Jeff Klein said. “We are thrilled to support an organization like NCMEC that protects children and ensures that they have a safe upbringing for a bright future.”
Denny’s Childrenswear is a family-owned business that was founded in 1978, and since then has expanded along the east coast with 13 locations throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. Every year, Denny’s holds a warehouse sale where they attractively price their inventory for their loyal customers. This year, the event included a shopping benefit night, in which $25 donations to NCMEC secured you a ticket to shop in advance of the general public. Combined with an overall donation from Denny’s, a total of $12,000 was raised. New York Islanders Owner Charles Wang, accepted the donation at Tuesday night’s game on behalf of NCMEC.
“After seeing how much good the Islanders Children’s Foundation has done and how much was raised last year for NCMEC, being able to donate means the world to us,” Klein said. “At the end of the day, it’s about helping the community and Denny’s Childrenswear is proud to participate.”
