, meet the New York Islanders fans. Isles fans, David Ullstrom
The 22-year-old Swedish prospect and as of November 20, a wing and center on the Islanders third line, was on hand at the Isles team store Sunday afternoon. He signed autographs and introduced himself to over 150 of the blue and orange faithful.
“It’s nice to get familiar with the fans and get out here and sign some autographs,” Ullstrom said. “It’s fun.”

Ullstrom, who landed at approximately 4 a.m. after the Isles 5-4 win over the Dallas Stars Saturday night, took photos and shook hands for just over an hour. Fans appreciated that he took time out of his day, while most envisioned the players taking the afternoon to rest after back to back games.
“David was great,” 14-year old Andrew Lavelle said with a big grin on his face. “He’s the future of the Islanders. He’s young, but he’s still really good and he was great down in the minors. Any time you get to meet a professional athlete, it’s really cool.”
Signings are not new to Ullstrom, who routinely signs autographs for fans in Bridgeport and back when he played for HV 71 Jonkoping in the Swedish Elite League. Today, nothing strange crossed his desk for an autograph, but one fan presented him with a homemade scarf. She had previously made one for Matt Moulson
and Ullstrom said that if that’s the secret to scoring four goals a game, he’d wear it everyday.
The event was originally scheduled for Nino Niederreiter
, but he was unable to attend after suffering an injury against the Stars.
“I’m glad he came in to fill in,” Ronnie Rodriguez said. “He was ultra nice and very down to Earth.”
As an added bonus, fans received a $10 coupon to the Islanders new Nassau Coliseum team store. On Monday night, fans also have a chance to meet Islanders defenseman Mark Eaton
and forward Jay Pandolfo
at the Modell’s grand opening at Oceanside at 6 p.m.
