NYI Director of Player Development on the CHL playoffs

[Editor's note: Islanders Director of Player Development Dan Marshall is the man responsible for communicating with the organization's prospects on a daily basis. During the course of the season, Dan travels thousands of miles to visit with the prospects and monitor their development. Dan has been kind enough to volunteer to send us periodic updates on how some of the team's prospects are doing in the playoffs of the Ontario Hockey League and Western Hockey League.]

BLAKE COMEAU (2004 second round pick)
Left wing -  Kelowna vs Kootenay (WHL 1st round)

Wednesday night in British Columbia, Blake Comeau scored his second goal of the playoffs helping his Kelowna Rockets beat the Kootenay Ice 5-4 in regulation and even the best-of-seven series at 2-2 in the first round of the WHL playoffs. Blake is clearly one of the leaders on his team and one of the best players in the series.

DUSTIN KOHN (2005 second round pick)
Defenseman - Brandon vs Moose Jaw (OHL first round)

After losing Game 1 to Moose Jaw, Dustin came out determined in the second game to lead his team, and he did setting up the game-winner and was named 1st star in a 2-1 victory. In the third game Dustin had 2 assists and again he help set up the game winner as Brandon won 3-2.

He is having an excellent series so far.

LUCH AQUINO (2005 seventh round pick)
Center - Brampton vs. Belleville (OHL first round)

Wednesday night in Belleville, Luch was the player of the game, scoring the game-winner in overtime for the Brampton Battalion. Brampton won 4-3 and now leads the best-of-seven series 3-1 over the Bellville Bulls in the first round of the OHL playoffs.

Luch has been a dominant force throughout the series. In the first game Luch scored the game winner in OT and was the first star of the game. In the third game Luch was on fire skating down the wing, scoring on the power play and  assisting on the eventual game winner. Again, Luch was first star in a 3-1 win.

Nick put in a very solid defensive effort last night, helping his Sudbury Wolves defeat the Kingston Frontenacs 5-2 in the first round of the OHL playoffs. Sudbury now leads the best of seven series 3-1.

In the first game of the series, Jason scored the game winner on the power play. In the second game Jason continued to do his job, driving the net and planting his 6-2, 217-pound frame in front. Guelph won 4-1 in Saginaw.
