CSS FINAL RANKINGS ANNOUNCED

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders
The Central Scouting Service released its final ranking for the upcoming 2008 NHL Entry Draft. The Top 15 North Americans skater stayed mainly intact, but there was some changing among the five highly-touted defensemen expected to go in the top ten.

Drew Doughty of the OHL's Guelph Storm dropped from the number two to the number three spot, while formerly No. 3 Zach Bogosian out of Peterborough of the OHL moved up one spot to the second position, behind Steven Stamkos.

Tyler Myers of the WHL ranks fourth, just ahead of Kelowna teammate Luke Schenn, while Alex Pietrangelo from Niagara of the OHL rounds out the top five North American defensemen by ranking sixth among North American skaters.

Forward Kyle Beach out of Everett of the OHL dropped from the fourth spot to the seventh, but is still the top North American forward behind consensus No. 1 Stamkos.

Colin Wilson remains the lone United States College player in the top 15. Wilson completed his first season with Boston University. On the European side, Nikita Filatov from Russia is still the Top European Skater.

The Islanders are set to select fifth overall at this year's NHL Entry draft, which will begin on Friday, June 20 in Ottawa.

Below are the Top 15 North American skaters and the Top 5 European skaters based on the CSS Final Rankings.
