Community Hero: Matthew Oehl
Matthew Oehl is an EMT currently in Paramedic school in Louisiana
Matthew Oehl will tell you that he's just "doing what needs to be done" if you call him a hero, but whether he likes it or not, the EMT deserves a shoutout. Oehl is an EMT currently training at the National EMS Academy in Lafayette, LA to become a paramedic.

Oehl has had a lot on his plate during the coronavirus outbreak, but insists that "somebody has to do it" when it comes to responding to emergency calls. In addition to work and school, Oehl spends time with his wife and a three-year-old son and finds time to fix things around the house, including broken appliances and plumbing. He goes to great lengths to decontaminate after work keep his family safe, as well as his community at large.
He's "doing what needs to be done" and the community is better for it.

Community Hero: Shimon FeldmanShimon Fledman works in a senior citizen facility and volunteers with an ambulance crew
Shimon (Shimmy) Feldman works in an assisted living facility in Brooklyn, which is a noble job under regular circumstances. But in light of the coronavirus, shielding a high-risk group from a pandemic is even more noteworthy occupation. That's just Feldman's day job, as he volunteers with an ambulance service at night, putting into practice over a decade of EMS volunteer experience. Shimon has been devoted, day and night, to helping those at-risk, or suffering from the coronavirus.
