CANADA 7, FRANCE 2

Patrick Sharp finished with a goal and four assists to lead Team Canada to a 7-2 win over France in Helsinki on Monday.


Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring 1:59 into the first period and went on to add another goal and an assist, while and Jamie Benn had two goals and an assist. John Tavares finished with one assist and an even plus-minus rating, while leading his team's forwards in icetime with 18:41.

Jordan Eberle and Corey Perry also scored for Canada (2-0-1). Goaltender Devan Dubnyk picked up the victory in his first ever start at the world championship.

Brian Henderson and Alexandre Rouleau tallied for France (1-2-0).

Team Canada returns to action against Mark Streit, Nino Niederretier and the Swiss team on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.
