Happy First Woofday to Radar!

The Islanders Puppy with a Purpose celebrated his first birthday at Northwell Health Ice Center on July 11. Radar and six of his fellow Guide Dog trainees had a barkin' good time as they had a practice session followed by birthday cake hand-delivered by Sparky - the only non-doggo to get an invite.

A significant portion of Radar's training includes being exposed to high-stimulus situations. The birthday party was the perfect challenge as the puppy handlers assembled the crew for a photo to commemorate Radar's special day. Once the pups posed for their pic, they went to town on a custom kibble cake.

Radar still has a couple of months to complete his training before he'll officially graduate and become a guide dog to a blind, or visually-impaired child. In the meantime, the Islanders are grateful to have spent a year with this good boy! Happy Birthday Radar!
