The "We're All Islanders" school assembly tour, sponsored by SUPERCUTS, NATIONAL GRID, and THE LIGHTHOUSE DEVELOPMENT GROUP, had its best week ever as far as number of children reached in one week. With stops at four different schools during the week, Dina and her sidekick Sparky helped educate more than 3,500 children, including more than 1,400 at one school alone. Stops this week included Indian Hollow Primary School of Commack, PS 221 of Little Neck, Floral Park Bellerose School of Floral Park, and PS 122, The Mamie Fay School in Astoria. All 3,500 children were treated to a fun-filled and educational assembly about the importance of teamwork. Arena Hostess Dina and her pal Sparky engaged the crowd with some entertaining demonstrations involving a team of students getting dressed in goalie equipment much quicker than a teacher working alone, as well as, a demonstration involving the school working as a team to create a nice, loud "Let's Go Islanders" chant. The Islanders continue to donate hockey equipment to each school before they leave so the children can continue to learn about working together through actually playing the sport. Each child also received a great Islanders gift bag that included a ticket voucher to invite them to an upcoming Islanders game!
