The New York Islanders posted their second straight week without a regulation loss, picking up 7-of-8 points while going 3-0-1. The crown jewel of the week was a 2-1 shootout win over the New York Rangers, but there was a lot to like, as the Islanders thumped the Colorado Avalanche and completed the season sweep of the St. Louis Blues.
GOAL OF THE WEEK: MIKHAIL GRABOVSKI
Mikhail Grabovski and Ryan Strome teamed up for a pair of beauties this week, as they’ve developed some chemistry since playing together. Grabovski emphasizes his speed and ability to finish around the net on both goals, while Strome showcases his passing. The result – two huge goals for the Islanders.
Monday Nov. 30 vs. Colorado:
As Strome and Nikolay Kulemin move the puck up the wing, Grabovski hustles straight through the middle, making a b-line to the net. Strome spots Grabovski and put a tape-to-tape pass right on his stick. Grabovski uses his speed to his advantage, pulling the puck to his backhand and lifting it up on Semyon Varlamov.
Friday Dec. 4: vs. St. Louis:
This time, Grabovski and Strome team up on a give and go. Grabovski drops the puck for Strome and goes outside-in on his way to the net, taking the return pass right to the net. Grabovski’s first doesn’t go in, but he sticks with it and roofs his rebound – at full speed – past Brian Elliott.

As if there were any other choice. Atmosphere, intensity, a win over an archrival – Islanders-Rangers had it all.
OFF THE ICE: TOY SHOPPING
The Islanders went to Toys R Us on Tuesday to buy presents for kids in local hospitals, which they’ll deliver on Thursday. It was a day to do some good in the community, but also to take a trip down memory lane for the big kids. Check out Calvin de Haan test driving the Jeep Powerwheels in the store.
