As the holiday season quickly approaches, it is time to lend a helping hand to others. In addition to playing "Hockey With a Heart" throughout November and December, the Islanders are doing as much as they can to help Long Islanders in need.

On Tuesday, Josh Bailey took time out of his day to help with a food drive at the Pathmark supermarket in Franklin Square. During the event, Island Harvest––one of Long Island’s largest food collection organizations––and the Islanders teamed up to collect food to help families during this holiday season. Bailey was on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with everyone who donated food.
"The holidays are a great time of the year," said Bailey. "It’s very important to lend a helping hand to others in need during this time. I am glad I was able to come out today and help Island Harvest in their efforts to end hunger on Long Island."
The Islanders and Island Harvest are teaming up for another food drive on November 29 at the Nassau Coliseum prior to the Islanders-Ottawa game at 7 pm. Any fan who brings at least three nonperishable food items with them will receive a ticket voucher for the December 23rd game when the Atlanta Thrashers visit the Coliseum. A portion of the proceeds from the November 29 game will go directly to Island Harvest to help end hunger on Long Island.
