Bailey Agrees to Six-Year Deal

The New York Islanders have agreed to terms with Josh Bailey on a six-year contract, ensuring that the All-Star forward will remain with the club that drafted him through the 2023-24 season.
Bailey, 28, has established career highs in points (62) and assists (47) through 58 games this season. The Islanders' first-round pick (ninth overall) in the 2008 NHL Draft is second on the Islanders and tied for seventh in the league in assists this season. He is also third on the team in points.

Bailey skated in his first NHL All Star Game this January in Tampa, FL, collecting an assist in the lone game the Metropolitan Division played.

"Josh has become one of the core members of the New York Islanders," Islanders President and General Manager Garth Snow said. "He has developed within our system for several years and it's exciting to see him mature into the player we always had confidence he would become. To come into the past few seasons and see Josh set new career highs each year, has been impressive and we're excited to see him continue to do that with the organization as we move forward."
Now, in his 10th season with the Islanders, Bailey has totaled 368 points (121 goals, 247 assists) in 697 career regular-season games. He's added 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
A native of Bowmanville, ON, Bailey played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires and Owen Sound Attack. His final OHL season (2007-08), Bailey scored 96 points (29 goals and 67 assists) in 67 games.
