Islanders promote American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Day

The Islanders are proud to team-up with the American Heart Association when the Buffalo Sabres visit the Nassau Coliseum on January 27, to help promote Å“Go Red for Women Day.Â? This special day, recognized on February 2, was organized to support the fight against heart disease in women.

On January 27, 20 volunteers from the American Heart Association will be located throughout the Coliseum concourse during the two intermissions, selling pins and collecting donations to raise awareness and help in the fight against heart disease in women. Too few people realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women (and men), but the good news is heart disease largely can be prevented.

Fans can also support "Go Red for Women Day" by wearing red clothing or apparel on February 2. The American Heart Association encourages you to œgo red in your own fashion by wearing your favorite red clothes or accessorya red blouse, a red dress pin, a fabulous red handbag put on red lipstick, or sport a red tie and red socks. Show your support for women and the fight against heart disease.
