“Try Hockey for Free” Event

On Saturday, Feb. 27, Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech and Islanders alum Radek Martinek participated in a “Try Hockey for Free” clinic at Aviator Sports and Event Center in Brooklyn.

The event, in proud partnership with USA Hockey, marks a series of on-ice lessons designed to introduce children to the game of hockey. The Islanders are dedicated to supporting youth hockey and local ice rinks with this program designed for children ages 4-9 years old. All participants received loaner equipment in order to participate in the event.

Islanders alum Radek Martinek, along with Islanders hockey instructors and members of the Riveters team provided instruction and encouragement. Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech was onsite signing autographs and taking pictures with everyone in attendance. Everyone’s favorite mascot, Sparky, and the Ice Girls also made special appearances at the event. At the end of the clinic, each participant took home a USA Hockey jersey and stick along with some Islanders prizes.
