Shane Prince is happy to be coming back to New York.
The Islanders acquired the Rochester, NY native on Monday and he’s excited to be coming to
Brooklyn, back in the bright lights of New York City.
“It’s exciting to be back in New York. I love it there, especially around the city, Brooklyn and the Island,” Prince said. “It’s really exciting for me and my family. Everyone is excited, I haven’t even gone through the texts and calls yet. I’m just worried about playing hockey right now.”
He didn’t hold back his enthusiasm about becoming an Islander either.
“The good thing is that the Islanders know what type of player I am,” Prince said. “Talking to management and the coaching staff after I was traded here, it’s really encouraging what they had to say to me. I’m beyond excited and am going to take advantage of the opportunity.”
He’ll get his first opportunity Tuesday, skating on a line with John Tavares and Ryan Strome.
“He’s got some speed and deception to his game,” Jack Capuano said of Prince. “We have a group here that we feel he can fit in with and hopefully give us some offense. He’s going to get an opportunity to play with 91 tonight.”
