Griffin Reinhart and Ryan Strome were on the losing end of a 5-1 decision as the United States beat Canada to advance to the Gold Medal Game. Neither Islanders prospect scored a point in the loss.

The US led 2-0 after the first period on a pair of goals by Jake McCabe. The Americans doubled their lead in the second period.

Trailing 4-0, Canada scored a short-handed marker four minutes into the third. But later in the period, John Gaudreau lit the lamp for the US, capping the score at 5-1.

Canada will take on Russia, who lost to Sweden in a shootout in the other semifinal, in the Bronze Medal Game on Jan. 5 at 4:00 a.m. The Gold Medal Game between the US and Sweden will start at 8:00 a.m.
