Team Canada came from two goals down to beat Slovakia 6-3 Friday behind two goals from Islanders prospect Ryan Strome.
The Canadians trailed 2-0 after 20 minutes before Strome's goal at 2:16 of the second period made the score 2-1. Islanders 2012 first round pick Griffin Reinhart assisted on Mark Scheifele's goal late in the second that gave Canada a 4-3 lead.
Strome scored one of Canada's two goals in the third period as goaltender Malcolm Subban held Slovakia off the board in the final frame. In two games, Strome has three goals and two assists.
"We had to deal with a lot of obstacles and I think that’s a sign of a growing team that comes back in a game like that," Strome said after the game. "We had a lot of different guys step up and every line was good. You have to be happy with our effort."
Canada is 2-0-0 in the round robin portion of the tournament, and faces Team USA on Sunday, Dec. 30.
