Panthers' Jagr questionable to face Bruins: report

Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr said Thursday that he would know Friday morning if he will be able to play Friday night against the Boston Bruins, according to the Miami Herald.

Jagr, who has a lower-body injury, skated for part of practice Thursday. He did not skate Wednesday.

"We'll see what happens,'' Jagr told the Herald. "I was feeling good early, then it got sore. Every 24 hours makes a huge difference. My side is kind of off. It's not just my leg. I don't know if I got hit or something. … I want to play every game but I have to be able to play. I'll go in morning skate and see what happens."

Jagr said his ribs have been hurting as well, which has made it hard to breathe. He also said he's been hurting for the past week but tried to play through it.

"I haven't been able to skate but I was still scoring so I wanted to keep playing," Jagr said. "At least I could help the team somehow. Then I went for acupuncture and the pain was a lot less, but my muscles kind of got weaker. I had no support on that side so I had to leave. If I kept playing I think it was going to get worse and then you're looking at three weeks."

Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said he'll let Jagr determine when he's healthy.

"He will tell me when he's ready,'' Gallant told the Herald. "He felt good today but it's still day-to-day.

"I don't think it is anything serious. We just want him right. We don't want a player out there playing hurt, especially at his age. It takes a little longer. He's going to be OK. He'll play either Friday or Saturday. He'll tell us when he's ready."

Jagr, 43, entered play Thursday tied for sixth in the NHL with six goals. His 10 points lead the Panthers.

He has 728 goals, fifth all-time and three behind fourth-place Marcel Dionne.

The Panthers recalled forward Logan Shaw from Portland of the American Hockey League on Thursday and he could make his NHL debut Friday. Shaw, 23, had two goals in five AHL games. He was a third-round pick (No. 76) in the 2011 NHL Draft.
