Islanders to keep logo, uniforms in Brooklyn: report
The New York Islanders will not change their logo or jerseys when they begin playing at Barclays Center in Brooklyn next season.

The New York Islanders will not change their logo or jerseys when they begin playing at Barclays Center in Brooklyn next season.

"One of the things we wanted to do is reiterate again, because I think fans are still concerned, that the Islanders will keep their iconic logo as well as their primary home and road jerseys," Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark said Tuesday, according to Newsday.

The jerseys likely will include a commemorative patch for the inaugural season in Brooklyn, according to Yormark, who is in charge of the Islanders' business affairs.

The Islanders will bring their four Stanley Cup championship banners from Nassau Coliseum, their home of 43 years. They also will hang the retired jerseys of Denis Potvin (5), Mike Bossy (22), Clark Gillies (9), Bryan Trottier (19), Bob Nystrom (23) and Billy Smith (31), and banners honoring coach Al Arbour and general manager Bill Torrey, from the rafters at Barclays Center.

"We obviously want people to come into the building for preseason games and opening night and feel like, boy, nothing has really changed," Yormark said. "Maybe the address has changed, but the feeling you get hasn't."

Bossy, Gillies, Nystrom and Butch Goring have been named inaugural members of the New York Islanders Legends Program at Barclays Center. Yormark also announced that public-address announcer Roger Luce will make the move from Long Island.

"You will see the legends at games, in the community, and providing us with guidance and input as we transition the Islanders to Brooklyn, which we're really excited about," Yormark said.
