Penguins sign 2009 draft pick Nick Petersen
The Pittsburgh Penguins signed right wing Nick Petersen, a fourth-round pick in the 2009 Entry Draft, to a three-year entry level contract.
The Pittsburgh Penguins signed right wing Nick Petersen, a fourth-round pick in the 2009 Entry Draft, to a three-year entry level contract.

Petersen, who was taken by Pittsburgh with the 121st pick in last year's draft, signed with the Penguins after completing his first season with Saint John of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He scored 39 goals and added 40 assists for 79 points in 59 games with the Sea Dogs while posting a league-high plus 46 rating. The 6-foot-3, 188-pounder added 7 goals and 28 points in 21 postseason games.

Petersen, 20, played the previous two seasons with Shawinigan of the QMJHL, compiling 48 goals and 119 points. The Wakefield, Que., native finished sixth in the league in scoring in 2008-09 with 90 points (37 goals and 53 assists) in 68 games while putting up a plus-57 rating.
