The Phoenix Coyotes seem to be the most active team on trade-deadline day. In addition to acquiring Derek Morris and Wojtek Wolski in earlier deals, the Coyotes also traded for veteran defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks.

The Canucks receive minor-league defenseman Sean Zimmerman and a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2010 Entry Draft. The pick is conditional on  Schneider clearing re-entry waivers.

Schneider had just 5 points in 17 games with the Canucks, and had been playing for their AHL team, the Manitoba Moose, since clearing waivers Jan. 2. In eight AHL games, he had 3 goals and 5 points.

The Coyotes will be the 10th team the 40-year-old Schneider has played for in a 21-season career.
