Ottawa Senators goaltender Pascal Leclaire suffered an injury during Thursday's practice at Madison Square Garden, and the team has recalled Mike Brodeur from Binghamton of the AHL to start Thursday night against the New York Rangers.

Goaltender Brian Elliott is battling the flu and may be available to back up Brodeur.

Brodeur, who is not related to Devils goalie Martin Brodeur, stopped 22 of 23 shots in Ottawa's 4-1 win against the Minnesota Wild on Dec. 19, his only appearance in the NHL.

The Calgary native has appeared in 19 games this season with Binghamton, posting a 6-6-1 record with two shutouts, a 3.03 goals-against average and an .892 save percentage.

Leclaire was hurt when he was hit by a shot during Thursday's morning skate at MSG, but it was not known where he was hit with the shot.
