Reese, Fadden lead the Americans to another home victory, 6-1 over Seattle

This season, the Tri-City Americans have turned home-ice advantage into home-ice domination, especially when facing the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Jason Reese had a hat trick and Mitch Fadden added four assists as Tri-City routed the Thunderbirds 6-1 Friday night in the Western Hockey League.

The Americans are an impressive 14-1-0-0 at Toyota Center this season, and four of those wins have come against Seattle. Tri-City currently owns the second-best home record in the WHL, trailing only the Calgary Hitmen (16-1-0-0 at home).

The Thunderbirds are 6-13-1-2 on the road this season, a large part of why they currently sit fourth in the U.S. Division.

The victory extends the Americans' winning streak to seven games. They have won eight of their last 10 and now have a seven-point division lead over the Spokane Chiefs.

Jordan Messier opened the scoring on the power play late in the first period. Brock Sutherland and Kruise Reddick also scored for Tri-City (21-7-0-2).

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Brandon 5, Swift Current 1; Calgary 5, Portland 1; Edmonton 3, Kamloops 2; Kelowna 3, Regina 2; Lethbridge 5, Red Deer 0; Medicine Hat 5, Moose Jaw 4; Prince George 6, Everett 5 (OT); and Saskatoon 4, Chilliwack 3.

At Kennewick, Wash., Chet Pickard made 22 saves for the Americans, who took control of the game with a four-goal second period.

David Richard had the lone goal and Jacob DeSerres stopped 28 shots for the Thunderbirds (12-14-1-2), who saw their three-game win streak snapped.

Wheat Kings 5, Broncos 1

At Swif Current, Sask., Brandon goaltender James Priestner stopped 29 of 30 shots to backstop the Wheat Kings to victory over the Broncos.

Matt Calvert, Keith Aulie, Andrew Clark, Nathan Green and Mark Stone scored for Brandon (16-11-1-1), which has won all three meetings between the East Division rivals so far this season.

Justin Dowling had the lone goal for Swift Current (17-13-0-1).

Hitmen 5, Winter Hawks 1

At Portland, Ore., Brett Sonne scored twice and added an assist to lead Calgary over the Winter Hawks.

The Hitmen (25-4-1-1) also got goals from Chase Schaber, Bostjan Golicic, and Brandon Kozun. Kyle Bortis both added three assists.

Jonathon Milhouse had the lone reply for Portland (8-22-0-0).

Oil Kings 3, Blazers 2

At Edmonton, Jeff Lee scored a power-play goal to extend his point streak to eight games and Craig McCallum scored the winner as the Oil Kings defeated Kamloops.

Brett Breitkreuz scored the other goal for Edmonton (14-16-1-3).

Kenton Dulle and C.J. Stretch found the net for the Blazers (13-15-1-3).

Rockets 3, Pats 2

At Kelowna, B.C., Brandon McMillan scored the game-winner on a power play with four minutes remaining in the third period as the Rockets downed Regina.

Mitchell Callahan opened the scoring less than a minute into the game for Kelowna (18-11-0-0). Evan Bloodoff also scored.

Jordan Eberle had both goals for the Pats (17-13-1-3).

Hurricanes 5, Rebels 0

At Lethbridge, Alta., Colton Sceviour scored twice and added an assist while Juha Metsola stopped all 17 shots he faced as the Hurricanes blanked Red Deer.

Carter Ashton also had three points, with a goal and two assists for Lethbridge (16-12-0-1). Dan Iwanski and Garrett Taylor rounded out the Hurricanes' scoring.

Darcy Kuemper allowed five goals on 21 shots for the Rebels (10-17-0-5) before being pulled in favour of Morgan Clark, who played the final eight minutes and 23 seconds but didn't face a single shot.

Tigers 5, Warriors 4

At Moose Jaw, Sask., Sean Ringrose's power-play marker 17:53 into the second period was the eventual winner as Medicine Hat built a three-goal lead and hung on to win against the Warriors.

Tyler Ennis, Tristan King, Linden Vey and Zdenek Okal all contributed a goal and an assist for the Tigers (18-8-2-3).

Jason Bast, Thomas Frazee, Ian Duval and Joel Broda replied for Moose Jaw (7-20-0-1), which has lost six straight games.

Cougars 6, Silvertips 5 (OT)

At Prince George, B.C., Dana Tyrell set up three key goals as the Cougars came from behind to defeat Everett in overtime.

Tyrell assisted on the game-winning goal by Jeff Regier. Brian Matte, Nick Buonassisi, Marek Viedensky and Justin Maylan also scored for Prince George (11-18-0-1), which snapped a five-game losing streak.

Byron Froese and Daniel Bartek each scored twice for the Silvertips (14-12-3-0), while former Cougar Dale Hunt also found the net.

Blades 4, Bruins 3

At Chilliwack, B.C., Charles Inglis scored with seven minutes remaining to lift Saskatoon over the Bruins.

Burke Gallimore, Walker Wintoneak and Stefan Elliott also scored for the Blades (22-7-2-0).

Ryan Howse, Partik Bhungal and Liam Darragh replied for Chilliwack (9-17-2-2).
