Blackhawks acquire David Rundblad from Coyotes

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired defensemen David Rundblad and Mathieu Brisebois from the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday in exchange for the Blackhawks' second-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Rundblad, 23, was the 17th player taken in the 2009 draft, by the St. Louis Blues. He made his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators in 2011-12, playing 24 games before being traded to the Coyotes for forward Kyle Turris. Rundblad has one goal and nine points in 50 games over parts of three seasons for the Senators and Coyotes, including one assist in 12 games this season.

Brisebois, 21, was signed by the Coyotes as an undrafted free agent after playing the past four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He has one goal and four points in 28 games for the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League this season. Brisebois had 17 and 19 goals, respectively, in his final two seasons for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL.

Rundblad will join the Blackhawks; Brisebois will report to the Rockford IceHogs, Chicago's affiliate in the American Hockey League.
