At the Rink: Blackhawks at Lightning

TAMPA -- Something has to give when the Chicago Blackhawks play the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on Thursday (7:30 p.m. ET; TVAS, CSN-CH, SUN), a rematch of the 2015 Stanley Cup Final won by the Blackhawks in six games.

Chicago (32-13-4) has won a Blackhawks record 12 straight games. Tampa Bay (25-17-4) has won six straight to move into second place in the Atlantic Division.

"When you win 12 games in a row it's not going to be the same guys every night stepping up and making a difference," Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane said. "Guys from the first line to the fourth line to our backup goaltender to our sixth defenseman, they've all been key to this run. And it's fun to have it that way. It's fun to have different guys stepping up and making a difference."

At the Rink: Predators at Jets

WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Jets may be without four regular forwards when the Nashville Predators visit MTS Centre on Thursday (TSN3, FS-TN).

Alexander Burmistrov could be the latest Winnipeg forward to miss playing time after he did not finish the morning skate. He had missed practice Wednesday because of an undisclosed injury.

Burmistrov will be a game-time decision. Forwards Adam Lowry (upper body), Mark Scheifele (lower body) and Drew Stafford (upper body) will not play.

If Burmistrov is not able to play, center Patrice Cormier would dress instead. Cormier, who played one game with the Jets earlier this season, was recalled from Manitoba of the American Hockey League on Sunday.

At the Rink: Oilers at Stars

DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars will try to end a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) on Thursday when they play the Edmonton Oilers at American Airlines Center (8:30 p.m. ET; SNW, FS-SW).

The Stars, who are 1-5-2 in January, are happy to return home, where they are 17-5-0, after losing eight straight (0-5-3) on the road, including an 0-2-1 California trip.

"If you're going to lose them on the road, you got to come home and win. It was one of the things we set out to do, was improve the home record and so far we have," Dallas coach Lindy Ruff said. "Coming back off a road trip is always a tough one, but it's a game here in our building that we look at to turn things around."

At the Rink: Sharks at Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Coyotes will honor captain Shane Doan prior to their game Thursday against the San Jose Sharks (9 p.m. ET; CSN-CA, FS-A).

Doan passed Dale Hawerchuk to become the leading goal-scorer in Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets history with his 380th on Dec. 31. Doan bobblehead dolls will be handed out to the first 5,000 fans.

"The longevity here and being not just a great player, but a great person, Shane is very deserving," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "To do it and do it all with one organization is pretty phenomenal, especially in today's sports.

"He defies his age. If you look at the smile on his face and the work he puts in every day, you'd never think he was that age. Hopefully, he just keeps going."

At the Rink: Senators at Devils

NEWARK, N.J. -- Forwards Mike Hoffman and Kyle Turris will be game-time decisions when the Ottawa Senators play against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; RDS, TSN5, MSG+).

Hoffman (upper body), who leads the Senators with 20 goals, was injured against the San Jose Sharks on Monday when he collided with the goal post in the second period while driving to the net. He participated in the Senators' optional skate Thursday but admitted afterwards he's still dealing with headaches and stiffness in his neck.

"I felt alright [at the skate] but I'll definitely have to talk it over with our trainers," Hoffman said. "I guess the injury could have been a lot worse; I'm fortunate it's not long term."

At the Rink: Flames at Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Scott Hartnell will play against the Calgary Flames on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; SNF, FS-O) after a one-game benching.

Hartnell is tied with Brandon Saad for the Columbus lead in points (31) and third in goals (15) but incurred the ire of coach John Tortorella on Saturday when his yapping at the Colorado Avalanche bench instead of completing a line change led to a too-many-men call on the Blue Jackets (17-26-4).

Against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 13, Hartnell was called for two of the Blue Jackets' three penalties.

"Through the past few games, prior to missing the last game, he's been frustrated because he doesn't think he's helping the club," Tortorella said. "He's been off the scoreboard, hasn't got many shots."

At the Rink: Flyers at Penguins

PITTSBURGH -- Philadelphia Flyers forward Sean Couturier will not play against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Consol Energy Center on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; CSN-PH, ROOT) because of a lower-body injury.

Philadelphia announced Couturier's absence following its optional Thursday morning skate. He had missed practice Wednesday with what coach Dave Hakstol called a maintenance day.

Hakstol said Couturier was expected to play against Pittsburgh (21-17-7) following that practice, but said, "Things don't always go as planned," regarding his status a day later.

"There's a lot of things that guys go through on a maintenance day," Hakstol said. "I mean, find me one guy in this room that's 100-percent healthy. So nothing's really changed. Unfortunately he can't go tonight."

Hakstol said he will determine his line combinations following pregame warm-ups, including whether forward Jordan Weal will make his Flyers debut. The Flyers also recalled forward Sam Gagner was Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League.

At the Rink: Hurricanes at Maple Leafs

TORONTO -- Toronto Maple Leafs forward Brad Boyes will skate in his 800th NHL game Thursday (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-SE, SNO) when the Maple Leafs host the Carolina Hurricanes at Air Canada Centre.

Selected by the Maple Leafs in the first round (No. 24) of the 2000 NHL Draft, Boyes has 208 goals and 495 points in 799 games with seven teams. The 33-year-old right wing signed with the Maple Leafs as a free agent last summer.

"Because we look at things day-to-day, I don't step back and see what I have done," Boyes said. "It's more about what do I have to do today and what do I have to do tomorrow. We have a game tonight and we need to win. That's the honest truth about how I view this."

Boyes said he will have a lot of family in attendance Thursday. He said his 800th game at this stage probably means more to them than it does to him.

"I just see this as a game and me doing something that I have been doing my whole life," Boyes said. "It is just something you expect to keep doing."

At the Rink: Wild at Ducks

ANAHEIM -- While no other team in the NHL has struggled to score goals like the Anaheim Ducks have, the Minnesota Wild have hit their own offensive skid. The two scoring-challenged teams will face one another Wednesday at Honda Center (10:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, SN) in the conclusion of Anaheim’s eight-game homestand.

The Wild comes in having been shut out in each of the past two games and on a four-game losing streak. Minnesota hasn’t scored a power play goal since Dec. 28 and coach Mike Yeo says that will be a particular point of emphasis against the League’s best penalty-killing team.

“We’ve tried a lot of different guys out there, so I don’t buy that theory of using different guys,” Yeo said at the Wild's morning skate Wednesday. “There’s not a lot of guys, other than kind of our main penalty-killers, that haven’t had an opportunity there at some point. We’ve changed the complexion of it, we’ve changed a couple things going into tonight. The bottom line is that these are the guys that have to get us out of it.”

At the Rink: Sabres at Avalanche

DENVER -- Ryan O'Reilly won't be surprised if he receives a chilly reception Wednesday when the Buffalo Sabres and Colorado Avalanche play at Pepsi Center (10 p.m. ET; MSG-B, BELL TV, ALT).

It will be the first game between the teams since the Avalanche traded O'Reilly and forward Jamie McGinn to the Sabres on June 26, 2015 for center Mikhail Grigorenko, defenseman Nikita Zadorov, the rights to University of Michigan forward J.T. Compher and a second-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

The Avalanche made the trade after they weren't able to reach an agreement with O'Reilly on a contract extension. O'Reilly would have been eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after this season. He subsequently signed a seven-year, $52.5 million contract with the Sabres that kicks in next season.
