At the Rink: Sabres at Senators

OTTAWA -- Buffalo Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner will face his former team, the Ottawa Senators, for the first time Tuesday at Canadian Tire Centre (7:30 p.m. ET; MSG-B, BELL TV, RDS2, TSN5).

The Senators (23-20-6) traded Lehner and center David Legwand to the Sabres (19-26-4) on June 26, 2015, for the 21st pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, which the Senators used to select forward Colin White.

Lehner, 24, was selected by the Senators in the second pick (No. 46) in the 2009 NHL Draft. He played 86 games for the Senators between 2010 and 2015, and was 30-36-13 with a .914 save percentage and 2.88 goals-against average.

He had been considered the goalie of the future but when he sustained a season-ending concussion Feb. 16, it opened the door for the emergence of Andrew Hammond behind No. 1 goaltender Craig Anderson.

Lehner sprained his ankle in his Sabres debut against the Senators on Oct. 8 and missed 39 games.

At the Rink: Rangers at Senators

OTTAWA – New York Rangers forward Rick Nash will not play Sunday against the Ottawa Senators (3 p.m. ET; MSG, RDS2, TSN5) because of a left leg injury.

Coach Alain Vigneault said Nash, who is day-to-day, was injured blocking a shot in the Rangers' 4-1 win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday, but expects him to play Monday against the Buffalo Sabres at Madison Square Garden.

"I think there's a good chance he'll be okay for [Monday]," Vigneault said. "We'll see how it goes here in the next 24 hours."

At the Rink: Islanders at Senators

OTTAWA -- Defenseman Travis Hamonic will return to the New York Islanders lineup Friday when they play the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre (7:30 p.m. ET; MSG+, RDS, TSN5).

Hamonic missed the past four games with a lower-body injury. He will be reunited with Calvin de Haan. They played together for the first 15 games of the season before coach Jack Capuano shuffled his pairings.

"It's only been four games, but it certainly feels a lot longer than that," Hamonic said.

"I'm excited to play (with de Haan) again. He's one of those guys that certainly each and every game he's getting better and better and I think we're starting to see that right now. People are talking about it now, but in our organization, certainly in our locker room, he's someone that we rely on a lot. He plays a lot of tough minutes."

At the Rink: Bruins at Senators

OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators coach Dave Cameron has made it clear he wants his team focusing on winning and not revenge against the Boston Bruins on Saturday at Canadian Tire Centre.

Bruins forward Brad Marchand returns Saturday after serving a three-game suspension for clipping Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki on Dec. 29 in a 7-4 Boston win.

Before taking questions Saturday in his meeting with the media after the Senators morning skate, Cameron said: "I'd like to just start by saying, I think I will get ahead of the curve here, there's no retaliation tonight. That's done. The League has handled it. I've talked to my team.

"All we're trying to do is win a game against an opponent that's real good, an opponent we're fighting to catch. There's going to be no retaliation tonight. The emotion we want is the emotion we bring every game, the emotion that allows you to play with energy, smartly."

At the Rink: Panthers at Senators

OTTAWA -- The Florida Panthers will try to extend their winning streak to 11 games Thursday against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-F, RDS, TSN5).

The Panthers' 10-game winning streak is the longest in the NHL this season and a franchise record.

Panthers defenseman Brian Campbell said this isn't a case of a team being hot, but just playing up to its potential.

The Panthers are 16-3-0 since Nov. 27 and have taken over first place in the Atlantic Division, three points ahead of the Montreal Canadiens. The Senators are one of the three teams to defeat the Panthers in that time, 4-2 on Dec. 8.

At the Rink: Devils at Senators

OTTAWA – Andrew Hammond will start in goal as the Ottawa Senators' search for consistency continues against the New Jersey Devils at Canadian Tire Centre on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. ET; TVA Sports, MSG+, TSN5).

The Senators, coming off a 7-3 loss to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, also could also have a shakeup on the blue line. They called up defensemen Fredrik Claesson and Michael Kostka on Tuesday from Binghamton of the American Hockey League. Ottawa coach Dave Cameron said he had some "banged-up guys" on defense, including Mark Borowiecki and Marc Methot, who each will be a game-time decision.

Cameron shortened his bench against the Bruins, with defenseman Jared Cowen playing 9:28.

"Our whole team wasn’t good enough for 60 minutes (against the Bruins)," Cameron said when asked specifically about Cowen’s play.

At the Rink: Bruins at Senators

OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Senators are expected to have forward Bobby Ryan in the lineup Sunday (5 p.m. ET; NESN, RDS2, TSN5) at Canadian Tire Centre against the Boston Bruins.

Ryan did not play in the 2-1 shootout loss against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. He had aggravated his broken left index finger in the 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Dec. 20.

Senators coach Dave Cameron said forward Curtis Lazar is day-to-day because of an undisclosed injury and will not play. Max McCormick, who was called up from Binghamton of the American Hockey League on Saturday, will replace Lazar in the lineup.

The Senators (17-12-6) and Bruins (19-11-4) will try to end two-game losing streaks Sunday.

At the Rink: Sharks at Senators

OTTAWA -- Which team scores first will bear watching when the Ottawa Senators and the San Jose Sharks play at Canadian Tire Centre on Friday (7:30 p.m. ET; CSN-CA, RDS, TSN5).

The Senators are 10-1-0 when they score first, third in the NHL, and 6-10-5 when they give up the first goal.

It's an even more significant statistic for the Sharks, who are 13-1-0 when they score first, second in the League, and 3-13-1 when they give up the first goal.

The Senators have given up the first goal in their past seven games but have rebounded to win three of them.

"We've been able to win games. At the end of the day, whether you give up the first one or score the first one, if you win at the end of the night, that's all that matters," Senators goaltender Craig Anderson said. "It's just one of those things. Maybe if we did get the first goal, we'd just sit back and be in more trouble."

At the Rink: Kings at Senators

OTTAWA -- The Los Angeles Kings will try to extend their streak of nine straight games with a point against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Monday (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-W, RDS, TSN5).

The Kings, 7-0-2 during the stretch, are the NHL's top possession team with a shot attempts percentage of 56.98.

The Senators are coming off a game coach Dave Cameron called a slap in the face, in which they gave up 37 shot attempts in the first period of a 3-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

"No pride in the D-zone and in getting the puck back in all the zones," Cameron said Monday in summing up the game against the Canadiens. "No compete. No pride."

At the Rink: Islanders at Senators

OTTAWA – The New York Islanders will try for a season high five-game winning streak Saturday against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre (7 p.m. ET; CITY, MSG+).

The Islanders matched their longest streak of the season (Oct. 12-20) with a 2-1 shootout victory against the St. Louis Blues on Friday. The Islanders are 5-0-1 in their past six games and have allowed 11 goals.

New York (15-8-4) will have to limit Ottawa wing Mike Hoffman, who has nine goals in his past eight games, if the Islanders want to continue their winning ways.

Hoffman scored in overtime when the Senators (13-7-5) defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 on Thursday, ending a two-game losing streak.

"Everyone is kind of buying in, knowing your role, playing hard and playing as consistent as we can," Hoffman said. "We've had great goaltending and been able to find the back of the net and not only with the top six; the third and fourth lines have seemed to come through, too, when we've needed them. It's been a group effort."
