RALEIGH, NC (February 25, 2000) – Jim Rutherford, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Southeast Division Champion Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the team assigned forward Shane Willis to its International Hockey League affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones. Willis was recalled for the first time this season on February 21, 2000, and played in two games without registering a point.
In his career, Willis has played a total of nine NHL games and has yet to record a point. He was drafted by the Hurricanes in the fourth round (88th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
Carolina embarks on a four-game road trip on Saturday night when the Hurricanes take on the Florida Panthers. The Hurricanes then play Phoenix (3/1), Los Angeles (3/2), and San Jose (3/4). The Hurricanes' next televised game will be against Phoenix which can be seen on ESPN2. Carolina's matchup with Los Angeles will be carried on WRAZ Fox 50, WXIV TV 14, WTDO Fox 14, WFXI Fox 8. The Hurricanes' game versus San Jose will be on HTS. The team’s next home game will be Wednesday, March 8, 2000, against the Chicago Blackhawks.
