RALEIGH, NC—Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward will present a check for $11,860 to Special Olympics of North Carolina. The check presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16 at 1 p.m. at the RBC Center.
Ward will be joined on Tuesday by Special Olympics athletes in the Hurricanes’ locker room for the check presentation, which is the culmination of the third consecutive season of Ward’s “Cam’s Champs” program to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics of North Carolina. Ward donates $4 for every save he makes in the regular season, and encourages Hurricanes fans to participate in benefiting Special Olympics. Ward made 1,741 saves in 2008-09 while recording a franchise-best 39 wins in his 68 games played.
