As was expected after yesterday's practice, Scott Walker will indeed be back in the lineup tonight for the Hurricanes as they face the division-leading Capitals in Washington.
It will be Walker's first game since January 27, when it became clear that the concussion he suffered a week earlier was more serious than originally thought. Walker underwent his first full practice with the team on Monday since exiting the lineup, feeling no ill-effects.
With Brandon Sutter
still on his conditioning assignment in Albany and Jussi Jokinen
back in Finland due to the unfortunate death of his father, Dwight Helminen will also be in tonight's lineup to fill the team's void at center. If the lines at yesterday's practice
are any indication, Helminen will likely start on a line with Tim Conboy and Walker, as Coach Paul Maurice will want to closely monitor Walker's minutes in his first game back.
To make room for Helminen and Walker, forward Ryan Bayda, who is one of only four players to appear in every game for the Canes this season, will be a healthy scratch.
