RALEIGH, NC -Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today issued the following statement regarding Hurricane Florence.

"We are heartbroken watching the scenes of destruction caused by Hurricane Florence. As an organization, the Hurricanes have always felt a special responsibility to assist those affected by devastation from tropical storms, from Katrina and Sandy to Harvey and Matthew. As Florence passes, we will activate our resources to identify areas where we can best help to assist our neighbors in getting back on their feet and rebuilding.
In the meantime, we are keeping our friends in Wilmington, New Bern and all areas in Florence's path in our thoughts and prayers."
The Hurricanes will issue additional announcements in the near future regarding initiatives to address the immediate and long-term needs of those affected by Hurricane Florence, working in conjunction with local and state government officials and team sponsors.
